Boxing / Kickboxing classes

Boxing/kickboxing deals with the phase of a fight were two opponents are still on their feet, also known as "stand up." In this range your tools are fist, feet, shins, elbows and knees.

At the Triangle Combat Academy we teach Western Boxing, which is a very popular sport often seen on the television with protagonist such as: Ricky Hatton, Oscar de la Hoya and Floyd Mayweather Jnr. To name a few.

Boxing

This form of sport fighting uses hands only. A legal shot is registered when you connect with the knuckle part of your glove to the front of your opponents head or torso.

In this range we also teach kickboxing. The Kickboxing at our academy is a hybrid version which draws techniques from many different forms of the art, such as Panatukan and Pananjakman (Filipino), Muay Thai (Thai), and Savate (French).

Depending on the country of origin the rules of the contest vary. For example: In Muay Thai the emphasis is on elbow strikes and knee strikes with body conditioning being of paramount importance. Savate is based more on long range kicking, the majority of the points being scored for this. As for the Filipino arts, the fight is close and the tricks are dirty, commonly known as Dirty Boxing

As with all striking Martial Arts, the aim is to hit without being hit, that makes these forms of sports combat perfect for self defence. To avoid your opponents attacks it is essential to have good movement, timing and coordination.

At the academy it is our aim to teach people with all different levels of ability and aspirations, whether you want to enter into competitions, get fit, improve your self confidence or just for recreation. I am sure that our classes will be right for you.

The best thing to do is to have a go. If it's not to your taste, it doesn't matter, at least you have tried it.
